BEST is DEEP TISSUE

FOR THE DEEPEST ACHES

Deep Tissue Massage is a combination of beneficial techniques working at a deeper muscular level. It’s used for chronic aches and pain and tight areas such as stiff upper back and neck, leg muscle tightness, low back pain, and sore shoulders.

WHAT IS DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE?

Deep tissue massage is intended to relieve pain and muscle tension throughout the body. This type of massage therapy is extremely beneficial because it reaches the deepest layer of muscles, fascia (connective tissue surrounding the joints) and tendons. The goal is to break down tense areas within the muscle. Adhesions (tense areas within the muscle) in the muscle are very important to take care of because they cause pain and inflammation, and limit motion of the muscles and joints.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE BENEFITS

Deep tissue massage can help stretch tight or twisted muscles and can also facilitate the movement of toxins from your muscles.

Deep tissue massage can help lower cortisol levels and increase levels of oxytocin, which is a hormone that relaxes the body and produces soothing effects.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

  • At the initiation of a deep tissue massage, to warm up and prepare the muscles a lighter pressure is applied and the more techniques are then applied. Common techniques include:
  • Stripping: Deep, gliding pressure along the length of the muscle fibers using the elbow, forearm, knuckles, and thumbs.
  • Friction: Pressure applied across the grain of a muscle to release adhesions and realign tissue fibers.
  • BEST’s massage therapists may use fingertips, knuckles, hands, elbows, and forearms during a deep tissue massage.
  • You may be asked to breathe deeply as the massage therapist works on tense areas.
  • Due harder pressure the massage might get painful. This does not mean if the massage is painful that works better. You should always let know your therapist about the amount of pain you feel comfortable with.
  • After the massage, you may feel some stiffness or soreness, but it should diminish within a day or so.

The therapist will bring with them massage table, table sheets, oils, aromatherapy scents, towels and music. You can use your own sheets and towels if you prefer it that way. Make sure you have a place for the table to be placed and enough room for therapist to go around it.
